Submerge With SCUBAPRO
With five events at some of Florida’s best diving destinations, fans of SCUBAPRO dive equipment enjoyed exclusive opportunities to try all their latest and greatest gear. What did you miss? Plenty, but no worries! We’ve got exclusive coverage of all the events, from videos and photo galleries to gear info and dive reports straight from the scene.
Let’s start with the reason we ventured to Jupiter, Pompano, Islamorada, Venice and Crystal River — the chance to demo the brand’s newest technology at popular Florida sites. Click here for our exclusive Submerge with SCUBAPRO Gear Report to get the full scoop on the latest regs, fins, BCs and dive computers.
Each event featured two dives, giving everyone a chance to put the gear to good use while checking out the scene below the surface, and our editors joined in the fun at each dive. Just click on the links below to read their full dive reports, check out photos from each event and watch the video coverage:
Jupiter — The dive was hosted by the Jupiter Dive Center, which specializes in the area’s signature drift dives among Caribbean-like reefs populated by barrel sponges, branching corals, lobsters, lionfish and a healthy population of grouper.
Pompano — The Pompano Dive Center took guests to sites off the greater Fort Lauderdale area, including the wreck of the Tracy and Lighthouse Point — where the group was joined by a giant loggerhead turtle.
Islamorada — Key Dives put participants in the water at renowned Alligator Reef, where the clear water, gentle conditions and abundant sea life had everyone entranced.
Venice — Shore and boat dives were on the schedule courtesy of Florida Underwater Sports, giving divers the chance to explore Casey Key, hunt for shark teeth fossils and, best of all, witness four playful manatees frolicking in the water.
Crystal River — Manatee season had already ended, but Bird’s Underwater shuttled participants past cypress trees thick with Spanish moss to some great diving within minutes of the shop. Bonus: A couple of manatees showed up for the afternoon dives.
