This month, meet Chrisie John from Hawaii. She attended the PADI Club dive trip to Belize this summer and is still buzzing about it.

What is your occupation?

I’m a registered nurse.

What activities, other than diving, do you enjoy?

That’s hard because I have so many! I enjoy hiking, camping, snorkeling and anything that takes place outdoors. I also enjoy reading and board games. I recently started playing pickleball this year and love working on my game.

When did you learn to dive?

I first discovered scuba diving around late 2019 or early 2020, but COVID-19 put that pursuit on the back burner.

I finally took the plunge and got certified in November 2022 and have been diving ever since.

What drew you to diving?

I have a deep love for traveling and exploring unknown places. Diving gives me the ability to experience all of the incredible beauty underwater that the average person doesn’t get to see.

Why did you decide to get your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification?

Scuba diving is going to be a lifelong passion of mine. I hope to be a PADI Master Scuba Diver one day. Getting my AOW cert is not only the first step in that journey, but it also opens up so much more underwater exploration while allowing me to hone my skills as a diver. I want to use my love for diving to further my education. I am currently working on getting a PADI Pelagic Magic Diver certification.

How long have you been a PADI Club member?

I’ve been a member since June 2023.

What are some benefits of PADI Club that you enjoy?

What is your favorite dive experience to date?

My favorite dive experience is hands down the dive trip I took to Belize with PADI Club. The country is beautiful, the people were so friendly, and I got to meet so many great divers. The best part was absolutely the diving. The reefs in Belize are stunning, and I encountered so many kinds of fish and other sea life. It was definitely an unforgettable experience!
